The Agricultural Business Research Institute (ABRI) has commenced to roll out a system called ILROnline. If adopted by a Breed Society, it allows members to lodge registrations, transfers and other dispositions of cattle online by accessing the Society’s ILR2 database. Information lodged in this way can be accessed on an internet-enabled device at any time. Advantages of ILROnline include accessibility and reduction in paperwork and handling.
The Society has begun to investigate how and at what cost ILROnline could be adapted to its particular needs. For instance, not all members have internet connections, so the continued availability of paper registrations and other transactions would need to be assured.
This is an ongoing enquiry, still at a relatively early stage.
