The Thousand Guineas program provides unprecedented opportunities to breed premium profit into Shorthorn production, with direct sales to meat processor and exporter JBS Australia.
The JBS Thousand Guineas program is named after a Beef Shorthorn named Comet, the first beef bull of any breed sold in Britain for a then-record price of 1000 guineas in 1810.
Shorthorn cattle have long been renowned for their muscular and marbling traits. This has been recognised by the meat industry, and the reward is now at a premium for Shorthorn cattle producers.
Australian Shorthorns offers an exceptional opportunity for breeders of Shorthorns to maximise profit from beef sales, through our alliance with leading meat processor JBS Australia – who lead a marketing drive both in Australia and abroad to promote the quality of Shorthorn marbled beef.
As well as reducing the time breeders need to spend on administration, the benefits include direct sales to JBS Australia with a premium price per kilo above saleyards rate. Breeders also receive performance reviews and a Weekly Market Grid obtainable from your local JBS buyer.
